First, the headline, "Hospital filling up with kids", may be alarmist/misleading -- for it gives information only for one hospital -- and that institution specialises in children.
Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health Director Dr Adisai Pattatang reports that many children caught Covid from their parents and brought it to school.
I suggest that schools should require that all those authorised to pick up/drop off students submit weekly ATK results to the school weekly via Line. Mater Dei School in Bangkok requires students do so as well -- which is excellent.

Let's be sensible

It may be a long time before we have a true Covid-19 vaccine. But, in the meantime, while you may not have to go vegan to improve your odds or your children's odds in this crisis, as Khun Eric Bahrt pointed out there is a lot you really do have the power to do.
For now, common sense says that Covid usually kills heavily overweight adults, or those adults with serious underlying conditions. Common sense also says that most Covid cases have few, or often no symptoms, so the writer is offering good advice: Watch your (and your children's) weight. Eat a healthy diet. I'd suggest reducing those sugar-filled beverages which have caused a significant weight gain over the last 25 years in Thailand, get proper exercise and don't fill our field hospitals with patients who are asymptomatic: Reserve the hospitals for only severe cases and let's begin a focus on home care because this coronavirus will be here a long time. We have to learn to coexist with it for a while, but keep our schools and critical facilities open and not overtaxed. ...but, sadly, common sense is often entirely uncommon.

Forgotten Rohingya
Re: "Renegades bring House debate to life," (Opinion, Feb 21).
One of the most publicised recent house debates on 17-18 Feb was about the almost forgotten human trafficking case of Rohingya refugees seven years ago.
The treatment of Rohingya refugees reminds me of the Holocaust during the Nazi period. Thanks also to Rangsiman Rome of the Move Forward Party for opening up the systemic corruption amongst the military and police force in the case which was apparently not so much on the news in 2015.
I am hopeful that the Bangkok Post will put this news on the front page and maybe summarise it into a commentary article for the public, other than the short note put at the end of Khun Veera Prateepchaikul's article (BP, Feb 21).

Pragmatism wins
Re: "Renegades bring House debate to life," (Opinion, Feb 21).
Last November, on the Post online version, a Mr "Reggie Syde" (sic) wrote: "I imagine Veera Prateepchaikul breaks into a cold sweat whenever he sees a PostBag letter from Yannawa David".
I'm sure this is not so but just in case, following latest Monday's "Think Pragmatic". May I say, excellently said Khun Veera.
