Postal worker ejected from vehicle in Burbank crash

A postal worker was ejected from her mail truck in a crash Thursday in southwest suburban Burbank.

A 40-year-old man drove his SUV into the postal vehicle about 10:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of 87th Street, Burbank police said in a statement.

The 45-year-old mail carrier was ejected from her vehicle and seriously injured, police said. Her vehicle continued moving until it struck a house, causing minor damage. The sole occupant of the house was unharmed.

The postal worker was taken to a hospital, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. He was released to the custody of Burbank police, who said charges were pending the results of an investigation.

The South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting Burbank authorities in the investigation. The U.S. Postal Inspectors are conducting their own investigation.
