Postal votes deadline for Scottish Parliament election

North Lanarkshire residents seeking a postal vote for the Scottish Parliament election have until 5pm on Tuesday, April 6, to submit their application.

The deadline for registering to vote in the election is midnight on Monday, April 19; and any applications for a proxy vote must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, April 27.

Voters will go to the polls to return MSPs to Holyrood on Thursday, May 6, and election officials say: “For those who choose to vote in person, polling stations will be following all public health guidance.”

Eligible residents can apply online to be added to the electoral register at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

North Lanarkshire returning officer Des Murray said: “If you’re not registered by April 19, you won’t be able to vote – so please take a few minutes to register now.

“The Scottish Parliament elections are an opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you on issues that directly affect your day-to-day life.”
