Postal Service truck driver shot and killed on I-30, Dallas police say

DALLAS _ Eastbound I-30 near downtown Dallas has been reopened after police closed several lanes to investigate the fatal shooting of a U.S. Postal Service truck driver early Monday.

Police responded to the shooting around 2:20 a.m. at 110 Dallas Fort Worth Turnpike Freeway regarding a shooting. When officers arrived, they observed the driver of a postal service truck had been shot, officials said.

Homicide detectives and U.S. Postal Inspectors responded to the scene, police said.

The truck driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene near the main post office, which is west of downtown, the Dallas County medical examiner's office said.

The shooter fled and no description has been released, KXAS-TV (NBC 5) reported. No details about what led to the shooting were provided.

The interstate was reduced to one lane from Sylvan Avenue to the Commerce Street and Colorado Boulevard exits. The ramps to eastbound Interstate 30 toward Texarkana and southbound Interstate 35E toward Waco were also closed, police said.
