Post-sanctions, Sudan tries to revive historical Suakin port

Post-sanctions, Sudan tries to revive historical Suakin port

Since the United States lifted the economic sanctions last year, the Sudan government has been trying to revive its infrastructure.

One area of investment is Suakin, an historical port in eastern Sudan built in the 16th century, which used to be the region's trade hub.

With help from foreign countries like Turkey, Sudan has been working to restore Suakin as tourism and trade destination.

Al Jazeera's Hiba Morgan reports from Suakin in eastern Sudan.
