A Post Office branch in Bristol will shut for a month - before reopening better than ever before.
The Victoria Park Post Office in St John’s Lane, Bedminster will close for a major refit on Tuesday, October 5 and remain shut for a month until Thursday, November 4.
But when the renewed branch reopens, it will go from having regular opening hours to early morning and late night hours thanks to new screens and counters, Post Office bosses have announced.

At the moment the Post Office, based inside the Costcutter on St John’s Lane, is only open for ‘office hours’ between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings.
When it returns in November it will be open a lot longer - rising from 46 hours a week to 110 hours a week - opening with the shop itself between 7am and 11pm Monday to Saturday, and from 9am to 11pm on Sundays.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work,” said Scott Lacey, the network provision lead for the Post Office. “The safety of our customers is of paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily. Following the building work, the branch will be open much longer hours than before."
When the branch closes for a refit, customers will be directed to alternative branches, including the Totterdown post office in Oxford Street and the Knowle post office on Wells Road.
The Victoria Park branch will be a ‘new-style local branch’ when it reopens, with Post Office services provided by two low-screened counters alongside the retail counter.
