Post-mortem reveals man died from 'single stab wound' as Hartcliffe murder inquiry continues

A man who died in south Bristol at the weekend was killed by a stab wound to the chest, police say.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary previously announced they had opened a murder investigation after they were called to Bishport Avenue, Hartcliffe, at around 4pm on Saturday (October 26).

The post-mortem investigation on the deceased, who was in his 30s, has now revealed he was killed by a single stab wound.

A 45-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody, with police having obtained a court extension to question him until tomorrow evening (Tuesday).

A police spokesperson said: "Enquiries into the incident are continuing. We would like to hear from anyone who may have information to help our enquiries. Please contact us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5219248273."
