Actress and politician Khushbu Sundar has shared her post COVID recovery journey and it is very inspirational. In an Instagram post, Khushbu has shared how it is difficult to get back on track after COVID and how even if it's difficult to return back to one's old fitness levels, one should not quit and keep going for it.
"Do not find reasons to skip your workout.. rather find any lame excuse to keep fit. I just did. Post covid, recovery is a bit slow, so if you are recovering after covid, go easy but do it. #get fit #healthylife #motivationtokeepfit," she writes on Instagram.
Before this, many celebrities have talked about how getting back to the gym was difficult for them after they were drained out of both physical and mental energy post recovery from COVID.
Springing back to normal life after COVID is a tough thing as seen in many cases. Even in mild cases people have told how challenging it was to overcome the COVID phase.
In June 2021, Malaika Arora had opened up on post-COVID struggle. "....Anyone out there calling a COVID recovery easy, is either blessed with great immunity or isn't aware of the struggles of COVID. Having gone through it myself, "Easy" is not the word I'd choose. It broke me physically. Walking 2 steps felt like a herculean task. Sitting up, just stepping out of bed, wanting to stand in my window was a journey in itself. I gained weight, I felt weak, lost my stamina, I was away from my family and more," she wrote about 32 weeks after her recovery from the infection.
Post-COVID recovery is least talked about but it wreaks more havoc than the actual infection, in many.
Post-COVID, in order to get back to normal life it is very essential to start it slow. COVID puts the body through a lot like inflammation, days of fever, runny nose, cough including impairment of loss and smell.
"Generally, COVID-19 patients take 2- 3 weeks to recover completely. Following a general health routine, involving a nutritious diet, exercise, stress-relieving measures, and yoga often aid early recovery. Special care needs to be taken of the lungs as their involvement in COVID is the maximum. Hence, one must continue to monitor their oxygen levels. All breathing exercises need to be continued even after getting cured," says an official report.
One should take expert suggestions and medical assistance in case they feel drained out of energy and stamina. Do not let the aftermath of the disease overpower your will and determination.
Physical exercise is a must after recovering from COVID. It alleviates restlessness, anxiety and boosts fitness level, muscle strength and overall stamina. Along with this, one should always adopt healthy eating habits like having more antioxidants, drink more water and have more nutritious food post COVID recovery.
However, post-COVID one should not go for heavy gym exercises. They should start it slow with some breathing exercises and then advance up to heavy forms of workout.
"All patients after getting cured must continue with breathing exercises. Asymptomatic patients can start their routine workouts after 7-10 days. Patients with co-morbid conditions should wait for 3-4 weeks before they start exercising. The best exercise is to start walking for 5-10 minutes and then increase the timing slowly. One should stop exercising if they start feeling breathless. One should not over-exert," the report adds.
