Victoria police have confirmed possible human remains have been found on a beach in Victoria’s south-west.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that the Geelong crime investigation unit detectives were investigating following the discovery by fishermen of what appeared to be human remains on North Shore beach in Geelong.

“It’s understood a fisherman located the remains about 11.30am when the tide went out,” she said in a statement.

“A crime scene has been established and specialist services from Melbourne such as search and rescue are coming down.”

Police divers were preparing to enter the water to search for further remains on Tuesday afternoon.
