A number of council staff are now self-isolating in East Ayrshire, which is starting to disrupt bin collections.
East Ayrshire Council chief executive Fiona Lees said employees are absent and the local authority will stop running non-essential services progressively.
Today, the council announced bulky uplifts have been suspended as the coronavirus grips the area.
And garden collections in the north of the region are also off. There may also be disruption to recycling trolley lifts.
A council statement read: “Many of our staff are now self-isolating and this is starting to have an impact on some of our services for bins and recycling.”
It said there would be “possible disruption to recycling trolley runs.”
The statement added: “These will continue wherever possible but will not be 100 per cent completed.
“Where a collection route is not provided this week, we will make every effort to ensure that this route is prioritised for a collection the following week.”
Household waste recycling centres are still open.
Council chief executive Ms Lees said: “Our priority is to ensure the continuity of essential services, wherever possible and to ensure that our employees are protected.
“A number of our employees are now absent, because they are self-isolating.
“This means we will be moving towards delivering essential community critical services and that progressively we will no longer be delivering non-essential services, in line with our business continuity plans.”
