'Positive progress' - Update provided on Nottingham Forest transfer target Jed Wallace

Nottingham Forest target Jed Wallace is making “positive progress” in his recovery from a quad injury.

Amid interest from the Reds - and with Monday’s transfer deadline fast approaching - boss Gary Rowett says the winger is still a doubt to feature in Millwall’s clash with West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

Wallace had returned to training just before the Lions hosted Forest little more than a week ago. However, he suffered a set-back in the build-up to that game and was not involved as Lewis Grabban clinched a 1-0 win for the visitors.

He is yet to make his comeback, having not made an appearance since December 11, when his team fell 2-1 at Peterborough United.

“Jed is making much more positive progress but he might be touch and go for the weekend,” Rowett told News at Den.

“He’ll be touch and go anyway because he hasn’t done any sort of training yet.

“I’ll probably reserve judgement on that for now because he’s been out a little while, it’s more likely he’ll start training on Monday, that’s the way it looks at the moment.”

The Reds have so far been rebuffed in their attempts to sign Wallace this month. The 27-year-old also has other suitors who are keen, as he has six months left to run on his contract.

Some Millwall fans had speculated he had refused to play against Forest due to their interest in him.

In reply to one supporter, he tweeted: “Thankyou for your kind words, I’ve played over 200 games for Millwall & never took that for granted. Would never ever refuse to play, I’ve just had a minor setback on my injury. I’m not a robot these things happen and I’m doing all I can to get back to playing ASAP. Thankyou.”
