A positive case of coronavirus has been identified from a staff member working at a West Lothian prison.

NHS Lothian said that a specialist contact tracing team has been called to HMP Addiewell after a medical worker at the prison tested positive.

All people who have come in to close contact with the prison medic have now been told to self-isolate for 14 days.

NHS has confirmed that none of the inmates at the prison are currently affected.

NHS Lothian said: "The team identified a case within the NHS workforce in the prison and contacted all of the close contacts involved to advise them to self-isolate for 14 days.

"They confirm that none of the residents of the prison are affected.

"To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be released.

"NHS Lothian, the Health Protection Team and HMP Addiewell are working together to assess the situation, and ensure that all contingency measures are in place."
