The Portuguese government has today announced strict regulations which mean UK tourists who are not fully vaccinated must quarantine for two weeks.
The tougher rules will remain in place until at least 11th July - and state that anyone travelling to the Portuguese mainland from the UK must quarantine for 14 days in the place they are staying or a place indicated by the Portuguese local health authority- Berkshire Live reports.
The UK government moved Portugal to the amber list earlier this month - so this means British tourists would also need to self-isolate for 10 days once they arrive back in the country.

Fully vaccinated UK tourists visiting the European travel hotspot will need to provide proof they have completed the vaccine programme and must have had their second jab at least 14 days prior to arrival.
All UK tourists travelling to Portugal will also need to complete an online passenger locator form and anyone over the age of 12 must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test to be able to enter the country.
Portugal will only accept either an antigen test, taken within 48 hours of travel, or a NAAT test that must be taking within 72 hours prior to travelling.
Once passengers arrive in the country, they will also be screened and anyone showing symptoms of being unwell, or with with a temperature of 38C and over, will be tested again - and will be unable to leave the airport until they receive their result.
UK holidaymakers who have received both doses of the vaccine at least 15 days prior to arrival and passengers who have made a recovery from COVID-19 within 90 days before travelling will not need to take another test on arrival.
While the latest restrictions could disrupt any UK tourist's plans to visit the Portuguese mainland, the island of Madeira now features on the UK's green list - so travellers will only need to submit a traveller questionnaire and take a PCR test 72 hours prior to their arrival to enter the country.
