Portstewart crash sees one person taken to hospital by Air Ambulance

One person has been airlifted to hospital this afternoon following a road traffic collision in Portstewart.

The crash which happened on the on the Cromore Road involved a car and a cyclist.

NI Ambulance Service say they received the call at 16.01 and they dispatched an emergency crew to the scene.

This was followed by the Charity Air Ambulance who also attended the scene with a HEMS crew onboard.

One person was airlifted to hospital in Belfast , the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The Cromore Road in Portstewart is closed due to a road traffic collision.

"There are diversions in place and our officers are at the scene; please follow their direction. 

"If possible, seek an alternative route."
