Portsmouth vs Sunderland team news as Black Cats make one key change

Lee Johnson made just one change to the side that started Saturday’s win against Rochdale on Wearside.

Midfielder Josh Scowen came into the side in place of young defender Ollie Younger, who had made his League debut against Dale.

That change meant a reshuffle, with Max Power dropping back to take over from Younger at right-back, while Scowen replaced Power in midfield alongside Carl Winchester.

Lynden Gooch missed the weekend game with a calf injury but was included on the bench at Fratton Park.

And centre-back Tom Flanagan was also back in the squad for the first time since the beginning of February after recovering from injury.

After Saturday’s 4-1 hammering at Northampton Town, Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett responded by making five changes to his starting XI.

He brought in James Bolton, Charlie Daniels, Ryan Williams, Harvey White, and Ellis Harrison, in place of Lee Brown, Rasmus Nicolaisen, Ronan Curtis, George Byers, and Marcus Harness.
