Portsmouth Vs Millwall Preview, Prediction, Team News, Lineups

Ahead of Tuesday’s rearranged EFL Championship clash, we have the Portsmouth vs Millwall preview, prediction, latest team news and predicted lineups.

Portsmouth Vs Millwall Preview

After their 5-1 drubbing at West Brom on Saturday, Portsmouth will be aiming to get back to winning ways at Fratton Park this evening.

Pompey found themselves four goals down by the half-time whistle at the Hawthorns. Alex Mowatt, Grady Diangara (2) and Jed Wallace doing the damage before John Swift made it five after the break.

The only bright note from the south coast side’s perspective was that January signing Thomas Waddingham managed to get on the scoresheet late on.

John Mousinho’s side have fared much better on home soil in recent weeks. They have won their last four on the bounce and are undefeated in seven (won 6, drawn 1).

However, Pompey still find themselves just one place and two points above the EFL Championship drop zone. Another victory tonight will see them climb up to 18th.

Millwall make their third trip of the season to Fratton Park off of the back of their first EFL Championship win of the New Year.

Mihailo Ivanovic scored the only goal of the game as The Lions beat relegation battlers Luton Town 1-0 at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.

Former Premier League forward Aaron Connolly missed a penalty before Ivanovic bailed him out with a smart finish. Prior to that victory, the Londoners last league success came against Blackburn in December.

Interestingly, Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game when the two sides last met at Fratton Park in 2012. The current England captain netted seven times during his loan spell at the Den.

Ahead of the match, the best football betting sites in the UK price Portsmouth as the 8/5 favourites. Millwall can be backed at 12/5 with the draw available at 21/10.

Portsmouth Vs Millwall Team News

The likes of Jordan Williams, Rob Atkinson, Freddie Potts, Josh Murphy and Callum Lang are all set to return to Portsmouth‘s matchday squad.

Thomas Waddingham is also pushing for a start after scoring the consolation goal against West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

However, the defensive injuries are mounting up with Conor Shaughnessy, Ibane Bowat, Regan Poole and Jacob Farrell all ruled out. Mark O’Mahony, Kusini Yengi and Paddy Lane are also missing.

Meanwhile, Millwall will have to do without Lukas Jensen and Calum Scanlon. The duo both suffered injuries in the victory over Luton.

Backup goalkeeper Liam Roberts is set to take the gloves from Jensen down on the south coast. Danny McNamara and Ryan Leonard are also missing.

Birthday boy Aaron Connolly is set to start despite missing the penalty at Kenilworth Road. The Irishman is still looking for his first goal since moving from Sunderland earlier this month.

Portsmouth Vs Millwall Predicted Lineups

Portsmouth (4-2-3-1): Schmid; Williams, Pack, Atkinson, Ogilvie; Hayden, Potts; Ritchie, Lang, Murphy; Bishop

Millwall (4-2-3-1): Roberts; Crama, Tanganga, Cooper, Bryan; Saville, De Norre; Watmore, Bangura-Williams, Connolly; Ivanovic

Portsmouth Vs Millwall Prediction

Looking to pull away from the relegation zone, Portsmouth will likely come at Millwall from the off and take the game to the visitors.

A fifth home win on the bounce is also up for grabs but the Lions do have a habit of frustrating sides this season. That is why we are going to sit on the fence and back a score draw.

Prediction: Portsmouth 2-2 Millwall
