Portsmouth rule out move for in-demand Bristol City striker Mo Eisa

Kenny Jackett says Portsmouth are not one of the clubs interested in Bristol City striker Mo Eisa.

Eisa moved to the Robins from Cheltenham Town last summer but endured a frustrating first season at Ashton Gate, making just six appearances and not scoring as he struggled to make the step up from League Two.

Manager Lee Johnson said the Robins have had bids for Eisa but Jackett said Pompey's interest came to an end last summer.

Jackett told the Portsmouth News: "We haven’t enquired about Mo Eisa.

"We definitely did last year when he was coming out of League Two, but it quickly went away. We were definitely interested but it quickly went out of our remit.

"We haven’t revisited it this summer and nor will we be. It won’t be one we’ll be coming into now, even wage wise it wouldn’t be possible."

Earlier this week, Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol that he could not rule out the prospect of the striker moving on this summer.

He said: "There have been bids in for Mo. We’ll have to make a decision as a club. I do believe in Mo’s talents.

"There’s a lot of interest in our players at the top end and bottom end. It’s not definite that he’s going to leave. If we don’t see Mo as our 25-goal striker it might be right to let him move on with a hand shake."
