Portrane and Rush coastal erosion public consultations to be held online by Fingal County Council

A Dublin council is to hold online public consultations as coastal erosion continues to threaten parts of the northside.

As premises in Portrane have been left ravaged and some destroyed by the failing coastline, the consultations are being pushed ahead to take place this week and next.

The consultation sessions will include a presentation by RPS on the studies undertaken, the proposed coastal defence scheme and a Question and Answers session.

They will take place this coming Friday, September 11 and next Wednesday, September 16 on three slots each day between 10am to 11am; 2pm to 3pm and 6pm to 7pm.

The sessions will look at the Coastal Flood and Erosion Risk Assessment Report for the Rogerstown Outer Estuary and an Options Report for addressing coastal erosion and flooding at Portrane and Rush.

To attend for one of these events, members of the public can express their interest by email to coast@fingal.ie. A name and preferred date and time slot should be included in the email.

All relevant documentation for the scheme can be found on https://consult.fingal.ie/en/consultation/coastal-defence-proposals-portrane-rush.

In addition to the information presented on this consultation portal, a separate virtual consultation room has been set up to present the results of the studies and the coastal defence options proposed for the area: https://consultationspace.com/Rogerstown/

Submissions and Observations can be made in respect of the reports and proposed coastal defence scheme from Thursday, September 3 to Friday, October 16 2020 (inclusive)
