Portrait of a Sicilian girl by Wilhelm von Gloeden - a picture from the past

Wilhelm von Gloeden's studies of Sicily and the Italian mainland helped to popularise them as tourist destinations in the late 19th and early 20th century. Many of the original glass plates containing his male nudes were deemed as being degenerate by the Italian fascist regime and destroyed in the 1920s
