Porto are considering a move for Willian Jose if they can't persuade Rangers to drop their Alfredo Morelos asking price.
The Colombian hitman has been heavily linked with a move and reports in Portugal suggest they have had a bid of €12m plus add-ons rejected.
And they are now willing to make a move for Real Sociedad frontman Willian Jose as a plan B to Morelos, although they could make a move for him even if they sign the 25-year-old.
It comes after Daniel Candeias admitted he had spoken to Morelos about moving to Portugal and was excited to see the Rangers hero test his abilities at the Dragao.
Eldes Marque say Morelos’ agents have been in Oporto to speak to the club on a regular basis but are looking at Jose if things don’t go to plan.
The Brazilian spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad but scored just one goal in 17 league games.
But Steven Gerrard still expects Morelos to be back at Ibrox for pre-season once the Copa America finishes and admits he needs to work hard in his time off.
He said: "We all know how proud Alfredo is to represent Colombia. He’s on the other side of the world but we still have our eyes on and still making contact and making sure he’ll do the right thing. When he finishes in the tournament he’ll have a short break and then come and join us for the rest of pre-season and we’ll try have him ready for game one as well.
"It’s important he does the right things when he stops until he comes back because he’ll have a very short pre-season and we need Alfredo to be fit and firing for the important games coming our way."
