A facelift at a Mid and East Antrim beauty spot has been given the go-ahead by the borough council.
Portmuck Harbour and pier in Islandmagee are to be refurbished.
It is the second historical structure on the East Antrim coast to be earmarked for renovation.
Larne Lough DUP Councillor Gregg McKeen said he was “delighted to propose that Council undertake a refurbishment of Portmuck Harbour”.
Cllr McKeen added: “The harbour was originally built in 1829 and used to ship limestone. This will ensure this site is able to be enjoyed for years to come.”
Alliance Larne Lough Councillor Danny Donnelly added: “The deteriorating condition of Portmuck pier in Islandmagee is an an issue that has been raised to me by residents.
“I gave my full support last night (Monday) to a plan to repair the pier and harbour and make it safe for tourists and visitors. Happily this was passed by council.”
The decision was approved behind closed doors at a meeting of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council held remotely on Monday evening.
Cllr Donnelly added: “Portmuck harbour and pier is an important landmark in Islandmagee and part of the tourist attraction in this beautiful part of Mid and East Antrim.
“I have been contacted by several residents concerned about the deteriorating state of the pier and harbour so I’m very glad to see that the council has stepped up to secure a future for this important landmark.”
Last month, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council approved remedial works at Fisherman’s Quay, a monument constructed in 1831 at Carrick seafront for local fishermen.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Peter Johnston stated: “The quay is regularly used by a group of open water swimmers, which I am a part of, and they are all delighted by this announcement.
“Fisherman’s Quay is a key site for walkers and tourists with stunning views of the castle and lough, especially during the good weather.”
DUP Carrick Alderman Billy Ashe, who proposed the renovation, commented: “Fisherman’s Quay is an important landmark in the Carrickfergus area and plays a key part in the appearance and attractiveness of the entire landscape.”
Carrick Ulster Unionist Councillor Robin Stewart added: “It is vitally important that we maintain this structure so generations can enjoy it for many years to come.”
