Portmeirion HQ given major revamp as staff move to hybrid working model

Part of pottery giant Portmeirion's Stoke-on-Trent factory has been given a revamp as office staff move to a 'hybrid working' model.

Midlands-based interior design consultancy Office Principles has transformed a 9,047 sq ft area of the company's headquarters, in Stoke – creating 'modern and flexible' facilities for the company's 550 head office staff.

The refurbishment includes the creation of new co-working areas and hot-desking facilities at the London Road site, as well as a creative meeting lounge, a photography studio, lounge-style seating, meeting huts and a write-on wall.

It has also seen the introduction of a quiet library and private call pods, a kitchen bar and family-style pantry.

The move comes after Portmeirion – which owns brands including Spode, Royal Worcester, Pimpernel, Wax Lyrical and Nambė – made a significant investment in the refurbishment of its headquarters as part of a wider brand refresh.

Gary Tailby, joint managing director at Office Principles North, said: "Businesses are acutely aware that employees’ expectations have changed due to Covid-19.

"The office is no longer just a place to work in, it's a destination that is collaborative and creative, and focused on our wellbeing. We've adapted existing office space to provide a workplace that reflects Portmeiron’s proud heritage and its culture. It delivers a great work life experience for Portmeiron’s people and will allow them to thrive through new, agile ways of working."

Mike Raybould, CEO of Portmeirion Group, said: "Office Principles has taken our brief to modernise our office space to create a modern, inspirational and flexible work space for our employees, with our brands at its core, and what they've created is transformational. It will change how our teams work and collaborate, and quite literally puts our brands at the heart of everything we do."
