Porter 'committed' to his WA electorate

Christian Porter is totally committed to his WA electorate after returning from mental health leave. (AAP)

Christian Porter says he's "totally committed" to his West Australian electorate, having completed a period of mental health leave.

The former attorney-general and now industry minister held his first post-leave media appearance in Perth on Friday, talking up a plan to deliver a state-of-the-art vaccine-making facility.

Declining to comment on ongoing defamation action against the ABC, Mr Porter said he was "well and truly back to work".

"It's not been an easy period for me personally but I'm very much enjoying the new portfolio," he said.

"I'm out here in my electorate, I've had amazing support from the people in my electorate and I am absolutely committed to continuing to support them and work for them and make sure the government helps them in their challenges."

Mr Porter has launched defamation action against the ABC and journalist Louise Milligan over an article about a historical rape allegation.

The federal frontbencher, who denies the allegation, claims he was widely identified as the subject and has accused the public broadcaster of leading a determined campaign against him.
