Contractors are having to clean up raw sewage after a spate of portaloo tipping incidents.
The portable toilets are being toppled over at worksites where Virgin Media are upgrading broadband services in Craigavon .
Thomas Larkham says he has spoken to the firm and their contractors about the issue and believes there have been at least six incidents in the last number of days after work began.
The SDLP councillor added: “I’ve been used to dealing with fly-tipping over the years, but portaloo tipping is a new one.
"I’ve had a number of calls about it as well as speaking to Virgin and their contractors. It’s happening on a daily basis by the look of it and while the people involved, who from locals are telling me are young ones, might think it’s a bit fun it’s not fun for the people having to clean up the mess.
“These portaloos have been popping up as Virgin install infrastructure in the area and there seems to be the same people going around knocking them over. There’s like a blue chemical in them that’s spilling as well as the contents of the portaloo and it’s going all over the pavement or grass area and obviously it’s not very pleasant.
“The firm and myself are just asking that who ever’s responsible knock it on the head as it’s not fair on the workers or the people living next to the mess and smell being left behind.”
