Portadown vs Glenavon ticket warning ahead of Boxing Day derby

Glenavon Football Club has warned supporters of 'fake' accounts attempting to sell tickets for the club's Boxing Day clash with Portadown.

This year's festive derby is being played on Monday, December 27 at Shamrock Park.

Away tickets for the game have already sold out, such is the interest in the big showpiece fixture.

Glenavon said it had been contacted by a number of fans about a "several fake accounts" trying to sell tickets for the game.

The club said: "It has been pointed out that there are several fake accounts trying to scam people into buying tickets for the Boxing Day derby.

"DO NOT purchase tickets from people on social media, unless you or a friend know them. Any comments selling tickets will be deleted. Thanks."

The Mourneview Park club added that most of the comments had so far "been limited to Facebook".

The club added: "Again, please don’t message or transfer funds to anyone you don’t know. We don’t want anyone falling victim to these scams."
