Portadown 'sudden death' investigation ongoing after two die at flats

Police are investigating two sudden deaths in the same building.

The probe centres on a block of flats at West Street in Portadown.

An ambulance was at the address earlier today.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service confirmed they had been called to a report of an unconscious male at an address at West Street at 2.48pm on Friday.

It is understood no one was taken from the scene.

On Thursday evening, according to local reports, another man was found at the same block of flats.

Police are not yet formally linking the deaths pending the outcome of medical examinations.

The PSNI confirmed they are "currently   at the scene of the sudden death of a man at a flat in the West Street area of Portadown".

A spokesman added: "A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to determine the cause of death. There are no further details at present.

"Asked about the earlier death, the spokesman said:

"A post mortem has been carried out following the sudden death of a man in the West Street area of Portadown.

"Police await further results from a toxicology report but at this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious."
