Portadown murder probe victim identified following double arrest

A 49-year-old man found dead in his Portadown home earlier this week has been identified as father-of-two Cecil Robert Ellis.

A murder investigation was launched on Saturday following the discovery of Mr Ellis’ body last Monday at Clounagh Park.

Two men aged 18 and 24 were in connection with the death, both of whom remain in custody.

DUP MLA for Jonathan Buckley said the news has come as a shock to the local community.

"Clounagh Park is a very quiet, residential area of Portadown and it's quite disturbing that this has happened here," the MLA for Upper Bann added.

"It's important that we bring closure to this case to help a grieving family, and as a community we gather around the family at this time."

Detectives are appealing for witnesses who were in the Clounagh Park area between 10.30pm on Sunday and 9.45am on Monday to call police on 101 quoting 414 of 09/12/19.
