Portadown murder investigation continues as PSNI granted more time to question suspects

Police have launched a fresh appeal for help in solving the death of a man from Portadown on Sunday.

Cecil Robert Ellis, 49, was found dead at his home at around 9.54am on December 9.

On Saturday, two men aged 18 and 24 were arrested by police in connection with the death, both of whom remain in custody.

PSNI have now been granted an extra 24 hours to question the 18 year old suspect and a further 36 hours for the 24 year old.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan from PSNI's Major Investigation Team said: "At this point I would also like to thank the local community for all of the invaluable information they have provided to my detectives to date, however we still need people to get in touch and tell us what they know so we can establish exactly what happened.

"We are releasing an image of Mr Ellis in hopes it will spark a memory in someone and bring forth some information that could assist our investigation."

Detectives are appealing for witnesses who were in the Clounagh Park area between 10.30pm on Sunday and 9.45am on Monday to call police on 101 quoting 414 of 09/12/19.
