Portadown have announced that goalkeeper Bobby Edwards is leaving the club.
Edwards is returning to the United States after accepting an offer to play in the MLS.
Ports manager Matthew Tipton told the club’s website: "Bobby has received an offer to go and play in the MLS and after chatting with him over the last 24 hours I’ve told him to take up the offer as it’s an excellent opportunity for him to progress his career.
"Obviously we would have loved him to stay for the rest of the season and Bobby wanted that more than anything but the American system for transfers is completely different from the way we are used to it here and the rest of Europe.
"It goes without saying that I and rest of staff and players wish Bobby all the best in the future and one day hope to see him representing USA at national level."
Edwards has starred for Portadown this season, earning rave reviews for his displays for the Shamrock Park club.
His save against Newry City back in November was compared to Gordon Banks' heroics against Brazil at the 1970 World Cup.
Edwards' departure is a significant blow for the Championship leaders, who last week brought in goalkeeper Danny Devine from Armagh City in a permanent deal.
