Portadown confirm new deals for Conall McGrandles and Stephen Murray

Portadown have announced new deals for Conall McGrandles and Stephen Murray.

The pair have signed new two-year contracts which will see them remain at Shamrock Park until 2022.

Former Warrenpoint Town and Cliftonville midfielder McGrandles made 23 appearances last season and scored four goals.

Murray joined Portadown from derby rivals Glenavon in January 2019 - he scored two goals in six appearances before the season was halted in March.

Manager Matthew Tipton told the club's website: "Conall has been a brilliant addition to our squad & over the last year has given us some memorable moments including kick starting our comeback at Ards and also the last gasp winner v Loughgall.

"He is a tremendous character both on and off the field so I had no hesitation in getting him back on board for twomore years."

Speaking on Murray's new deal, Tipton added: "Stephen was just hitting his stride when lockdown arrived in March but I think he showed enough class to get everyone excited for more to come.

"Certainly I know this having worked with him previously at Premier league level and looking at his record last season where he finished as top scorer for Glenavon I have no doubt we will get to see many more performances to come from Stephen over the next two years."

Meanwhile, Warrenpoint Town have announced new deals for Gabriel Sava and Matthew Lynch.

Manager Barry Gray told the club's website: “Gabriel has proved from January that his experience and know how can be a valuable asset to the team going forward so I am really pleased to get this deal done.

"This will also us to have two great option in the goalkeeping department, and I have no doubt this competition will be healthy for the team.”

Gray added: “Matty has been very unfortunate with injury during our short time at the club so far, however he has demonstrated great professionalism and commitment and I am really looking forward to him returning in preseason and pushing hard for a starting position in team.

"I have no doubt in his ability and he will prove to be an important part of rebuilding going forward.”
