Portadown boss Matthew Tipton has warned that if any club wants to lure star striker Lee Bonis away from Shamrock Park they must splash the cash.
The 22-year-old forward was once again in impressive form at the weekend in the Mid Ulster club’s 1-0 win against Warrenpoint Town.
Although it was Adam Salley who bagged the winning goal at Milltown, Bonis played a significant role in the build-up.
With the transfer window primed to open next month, Bonis is likely to be on the radar Linfield, Glentoran and Larne.
But bullish Tipton declared: “Lee has a five-year contract with us and, until clubs come with a proper written offer, he is not for sale.
“If somebody comes in with an offer we can’t turn down, or won’t turn down, then we’ll look at it, but they have to be serious.
“Why should I want to lose Lee? He is one of the best young strikers in the League. Until we get a concrete offer.. and we haven’t as yet, so there is nothing to talk about.”
Last week, Bonis insisted he won't allow the dream of full-time football distract him from the job at hand.
“My goal is to progress as much as I can and hopefully play full-time football in England or even in the Irish League,” he told the NI Football League website.
“I’m just concentrating on doing what I can by scoring goals and helping Portadown climb the table.
"I think we made a rough start to the league campaign but we are still relatively new after only gaining promotion last season."
Bonis is Portadown’s top scorer on five goals this season, while he chipped in with 15 goals last season, the club’s first top-flight campaign in three years.
