Portadown announce signing of former Portsmouth teen

Portadown have completed the signing of Northern Ireland teenager Eoin Teggart.

The 19-year-old winger joins the Ports after training with the Shamrock Park club for the past month.

Teggart spent three years with EFL League One side Portsmouth where he featured for their Under 18 and U23 squads. He also made two senior appearances for Pompey in the EFL Trophy.

The youth international - who has been capped at Under 17 and U19 level - had a loan spell with Gosport Borough before joining Cliftonville on loan in January this year, and was then released by Portsmouth Academy in the summer.

Now he is back in the Irish League with Matthew Tipton's Portadown.

Tipton told the club's website: "For those that are unfamiliar with Eoin he is a left winger who has been training with us for a month or so.

"I’ve known Eoin for a long time having coached him as a young player for a few years prior to him moving to Portsmouth.

"He’s a direct winger who likes to beat his man and get crosses into the box as well as getting plenty of shots away."
