Aberdeen Harbour Board has announced the appointment of former Stagecoach executive Jon Oakey as finance and business services director.
Oakey spent three years with Stagecoach Group as finance director for Scotland, including a period as interim managing director of the East Scotland bus operation.
He previously worked in the oil and gas and transport industries on operations in countries including Trinidad, Tanzania and Houston, Texas. Oakey, from Cheltenham, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Aberdeen Harbour is a gateway to the North Sea energy sector and employs 100 people, handling more than 26 million tonnes of shipping. It is worth £1.5 billion a year to the economy.
Aberdeen Harbour Board chief executive Michelle Handforth said: “We are delighted with Jon Oakey’s appointment to the Board and look forward to working with him at this time of great change for Aberdeen Harbour.
“It is vital that we maintain an efficient and professional service for customers and port users, as we look towards the opening of South Harbour in 2021, and I am delighted Jon has joined the Harbour Board at such an exciting time in our history.”
