Port's Georgiades overcomes injury in AFL

Emerging Port Adelaide forward Mitch Georgiades has overcome a hamstring injury and looks set to be available for the Power's AFL preliminary final.

Georgiades suffered a slight strain in Port's final-round win against the Western Bulldogs and missed last Friday night's qualifying final victory over Geelong.

But the 19-year-old has been named in the club's SANFL team against Glenelg on Saturday to press his case for a recall in the Power's AFL premiership push.

Georgiades has kicked 32 goals this year in a breakout season to place third in the AFL's Rising Star award.

It has been a big week for Georgiades, who was involved in a minor road accident on Thursday.

After struggling without key personnel at stages this season, Port are approaching a full-strength team at the right time.

Joining Georgiades in the reserves team will be veteran Hamish Hartlett (knee) and defender Lachie Jones (ankle).

Key defender Tom Clurey is also back, while fringe AFL players Sam Powell-Pepper and Sam Mayes will be trying to force their way into the preliminary final squad.

"You want that selection pressure," ruckman Scott Lycett said on Friday.

"It makes you strive to get better.

"It will be interesting ... I am looking forward to (selection) as much as anyone."

Port will face the winner of Saturday night's semi-final between the Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs for a spot in the decider.

The Power were minor premiers last season but fell just short in a home preliminary final against Richmond at the Adelaide Oval.
