Port coach eases Fantasia injury fears

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley says his perfectly-placed AFL club expects qualfying final hero Orazio Fantasia to overcome a knee injury.

Four-goal Fantasia was substituted in the last quarter of Port's 43-point demolition of Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

And while the former Essendon goalsneak is renowned as injury-plagued, Hinkley isn't overly concerned at Fantasia's latest ailment.

"He gave it a knock and we weren't going to take a chance," Hinkley said.

"He has got two weeks now, so he has got plenty of time to get over it."

Fantasia's four eye-catching goals and Aliir Aliir's defensive feats were highlights of Port's 12.14 (86) to 5.13 (43) victory against Geelong.

The Power now have a week off before a home preliminary final for the second-straight season.

"It is big in the overall goal because we get the perfect preparation for what we would like," Hinkley said.

"We haven't had a pre-finals bye. This is the bye that I feel like is a bonus to us, it's a benefit to us clearly.

"It's probably what the old (finals) system looked like a little bit and now it works pretty favourably for us.

"We get to play at home again, we get to play after being a bit fresh. There's some risks with that but it's the perfect preparation."

With Fantasia likely to be fit, Hinkley faces a selection squeeze for the preliminary final.

For the qualifying final, Fantasia replaced fellow forward Mitch Georgiades, who's certain to be available in a fortnight.

"Mitch will be fine now. He has been an incredible part of our team all the way through the year," Hinkley said.

"It will be a decision we have to make around what is right for us for the game and the opposition we play."
