The Port Adelaide Football Club says racism has to stop following a social media post directed at one of its players.
Showdown medallist Aliir Aliir was the target of a post likening him to a monkey after last night's win over the Adelaide Crows at Adelaide Oval.
In response, Port said it would continue to challenge and report racism.
It said there was no room for it online, in the stands or in homes.
"Our game is built on bravery and courage, commitment and togetherness," the club said in a statement.
"There is nothing brave or courageous about using social media to racially abuse or personally vilify a player.
"Racism is divisive and hurtful and has no place in our game or in society more broadly. It has to stop."
It came just days after former Crows captain Taylor Walker was suspended for six games for making a racist comment about an SANFL player.
This year is Aliir's first with Port after five years with the Sydney Swans.
Aliir came to Australia as a refugee aged nine.
He was born in Kenya after his parents fled war-torn Sudan.
