Porsche convoy fined for blocking traffic intersection

A capture from a video clip on the Facebook page of user Jan'Chalom Lom shows one of the Porsches making a right turn at Wat Sri Panton intersection while two others block approaching traffic, in Muang district of Nan province on Sunday.

NAN: The drivers of 13 Porsche cars have been fined 500-1,500 baht for red-light violations and blocking an intersection while visiting a rich family in Muang district.

All showed up to pay their fines at Nan police station late on Sunday night after a video clip posted online  earlier that day showed two Porsches stopped in the middle of Wat Sri Panton intersection in Muang district, blocking approaching traffic to make way for 11 other Porsches making a right turn  -- against a red light.

The clip went viral with comments on traffic rules being broken. Local police identified the drivers from licence plates visible in the posted video and from a surveillance camera.

Police fine each of the 13 drivers 500 baht for failing to stop at a red light and the two who blocked the intersection were each also fined 1,000 baht.

It was reported that the Porsche convoy was visiting a well-to-do family in Muang district of Nan.
