Porpoise found washed up on beach died of multiple injuries

A porpoise found washed up on a beach earlier this week has died of 'several injuries'.

A team of Marine Mammal Medics from Burnham-On-Sea's BARB Search & Rescue were called to Brean beach on Thursday morning (September 5).

The mammal, whose habitat is normally off the coast of Devon and Cornwall, is said to have died of multiple injuries.

A BARB spokesperson said: "Our fully-trained Marine Mammal Medics were called to Brean beach at 11.48am after a report of a porpoise being washed up on the tideline.

"Our crew drove to the scene, between Berrow and Brean, and found a young male porpoise that had suffered several injuries.

"After a full check, it was confirmed that it had sadly died."
