A popular tapas restaurant has been forced into a temporary closure after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Old Band House, in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan, will be shut to customers until further notice as a precaution against spread of the virus.
In an open post on Facebook, a spokesperson for the eatery explained that the decision had been to ensure the safety of staff and customers but that no visitors were at risk so far.
Last night (Thursday), a spokesman for the restaurant said: "It is with a heavy heart that we have to report a positive COVID-19 case, which we have been notified of this evening.
"Unfortunately, we have made the decision to close until further notice as a precautionary measure.
"Although this is heartbreaking for us having recently reopened after the pandemic, the safety of both our staff and customers still remains our top priority.
"We would like to make it clear that this is nothing to worry about from a customer perspective. Our team however, work closely with one another and although no other staff members have symptoms, we have advised our staff to be tested."
Before the recent round of reopenings, efforts were made to make the restaurant safe during the coronavirus crisis, the post explained.
The spokesman added: "Our business will reopen with that same confidence once we have a clearer picture on how we can move forward.
"We would like to send our apologises to anyone who was booked in with us this weekend, especially to those who were planning to celebrate a special occasion.
"We will keep everyone updated and thank you all for your understanding."
