A West Lothian pub has been given the go ahead to be renovated into shops.
West Lothian Council granted the proposal on August 19 from the developer, F & M Cortellessa.
They were given permission to convert The Crown Inn in Blackburn into a financial or professional shop, which can mean a bookmakers premises.
The planning application offers no details as to what shops will be opening at the premises.
The owners at The Crown on 24 East Main Street decided to shut after serving the community for many years.
They said online: “We are sorry to say that from today we are closing for the foreseeable future.
“We want to thank our customers massively for all their support over the years.
“We will update yous with any change in the future.
“Again thank you & take care.”
Granting permission for the proposal a spokesperson for West Lothian Council said they had no concerns over the proposal.
They said: “The proposed use is considered appropriate and there will be no significant adverse impact on the amenity of residential properties.
“Whilst is property is not located within a town centre this site is located on East Main Street where by there any many other uses at ground level including a shop and car wash facility.
“No concerns were raised by WLC Environmental Health with exception of a condition on construction hours that shall be attached if consented. “There are no structural changes to the premises, all alterations will the internal.
“WLC Roads & Transportation have raised no road safety or parking concerns.
“The proposal is therefore considered acceptable.”
