The Five Sisters Zoo has revealed its plans for the coming months after welcoming visitors again after lockdown.
The popular attraction has been open since last month and staff say they are delighted to see families coming back through the doors.
And there is plenty to keep everyone busy over the coming weeks and months.
The popular summer nights attractions are running again this year and details have been released about what visitors can expect in the autumn and winter.
A spokesperson for the zoo said: “We are delighted to announce our plans for this year’s lighting event which will be different from previous years.
“We will be hosting two different events this year, the zoo Christmas illuminations and a spectacular new FSZ autumn nights event.
“This event will see the zoo beautifully illuminated every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Friday, October 9, until Sunday, November 15.
“We promise that this event will be our best yet with many new areas being lit up with spectacular effects using water, music and coloured lighting.
“Our animal enclosures, as in previous years, will have gentle discreet lighting which will not adversely affect the animals but will allow viewing of them at a time when many are at their most active. We have many surprises planned which we will announce as the project develops.
“Our ever-popular Christmas zoo illuminations will return on December 1 until December 23, every night from 5pm to 9pm.
“In addition to the autumn nights, the illuminations will also include more lighting, festive lights, Christmas music, Santa and much more.
“Our summer nights have been a great success with excellent feedback. We have added more dates for the coming weeks below. On these dates the zoo will be open until 9pm and our food outlets and play park will be open on these evenings.”
The zoo is also running online education sessions for children who might have missed out on a school trip due to lockdown.
It is offering everyone the chance to engage with staff on a variety of topics by taking part in an online education session.
The spokesperson continued: “We would like to say a huge thank you to all our guests that have visited since our reopening, it has been amazing to welcome you all back.
“If you are planning on visiting us please remember that we are open to pre-booked tickets only.”
