Popular vegan pies urgently recalled as they could contain milk and meat

A pie has been recalled from sale as it contains milk, which is not mentioned on the label.

Fry’s Family Foods has recalled all Fry’s Mushroom Country Style Pies that have a use by date of June 12.

The Food Standard's Agency (FSA) states the pie could be "possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents".

And a blunder also means that some boxes of the veggies treats actually contain chicken and ham pies.

The mistake has been attributed to a "packaging error". The affected product has only been sold in Sainsbury’s stores.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, or avoid the consumption of meat, do not eat it," urges the FSA.

"Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund when next visiting for groceries and other essentials."

Alternatively contact Fry’s Family Foods UK on 01280 701608 or by email to enquiries@frysfamilyfoods.co.uk.
