Popular Uplands pub shuts temporarily because of staffing problems caused by Covid

A popular Uplands, Swansea pub is having to close its doors days before Christmas because of staffing issues caused by Covid.

The Uplands Tavern has long established itself as a go-to for festive drinkers looking to celebrate the Christmas holidays.

But the venue announced yesterday, December 21, it would remain closed for that day and today - December 22 - with a decision to be made on Thursday for opening over Christmas. You can read more stories about Swansea here.

The traditional high street pub is well known for its live music and friendly atmosphere and is one of the busiest venues in Uplands.

Making the closure announcement on Facebook, the Tavern team said they had been left "gutted" by having to shut the pub's doors.

The post detailed "a number of staffing issues with Covid", meaning the venue would close that day and the following. It added that "the safety of everyone" was the priority and the reason behind the closure.

Owned by Greene King, the pub retailer and brewer reemphasised the closure on the venue's website, but stressing: "This is only a temporary closure".

WalesOnline has approached Greene King and The Uplands Tavern for comment.
