Popular Troon bar McKays is named home of Ayrshire's best beer garden

A watering hole is now home to the best beer garden in the region.

McKays in Troon have been clinking their glasses after scooping the award, voted for by Ayrshire and Wigtownshire Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) members.

The outdoor drinking spot can host up to 200 people.

Landlord James Welsh said: “It’s great news. The beer garden is a good size and gets the sun all day.

James and Denise Welsh have been running McKays for six years.

Last year the boozer was crowned the best real ale pub in South Ayrshire.

James said trading this summer has been a success, as temperatures across the area reaching a scorching 30 degrees.

He added: “It’s been fantastic – probably the best summer we’ve ever had.”

He thanked Camra members who voted for the beer garden.
