Popular shoes recalled from TK Maxx over 'exposed nail'


An urgent recall has been issued for several pairs of ladies' boots sold in TK Maxx and Homesense over fears that an "exposed nail" could cause injury when worn.

The popular Dune Head and Heels branded boots were for sale in TK Maxx and Homesense in October 2022, and they come in both knee-hight and ankle-hight varieties.

In a statement today, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission said: “TJX Ireland Unlimited Company t/a TK Maxx and Homesense recalls Dune Head and Heels Boots. The risk associated with the product is that of injury.

"Due to a manufacturing fault, some products may contain an exposed nail which could cause injury when worn.

“The brand is Dune. The model is Head and Heels boots. The affected products are black heeled boots marked with ‘Dune’ and ‘Head & Heels’ on the sole and insert respectively, in knee-height and ankle-height varieties.

“The affected products were available for purchase in October 2022.” The affected boots will have these product codes shown on the price sticker and receipt: 328003, 328047, 328050, 328070, 328100, 817084.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is urging anyone who has bought these boots to stop wearing them, and to bring them back to their nearest TX Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.

A spokesperson for TK Maxx said: “The manufacturer Dune is recalling the above products. Due to a manufacturing fault, some units may contain an exposed nail. which could cause injury when worn.

"The safety of our customers is very important to us, and we are taking this action as a precaution. If you purchased the product, please do not wear the shoes and return to any TK Maxx store for a full refund," they said.
