Popular restaurant TGI Fridays in Swords shuts down after nine years

Popular north Dublin bar and restaurant TGI Fridays in Swords has shut down.

The American style diner near Dublin Airport closed its doors for the last time on Friday after nine years in business.

A source told Dublin Live that the decision to cease trading was made due to “contributing factors including high rent and rates and a drop in sales”.

It is not known yet how many jobs have been affected or how staff might be accommodated - Dublin Live has contacted the chain’s owner, Entertainment Enterprises, for comment.

The franchise at Airside Retail Park was one of six TGI Fridays in the capital.

There remain two in the city centre - on Fleet Street and on St Stephen’s Green - and three more in the capital’s largest shopping centres at Dundrum, Blanchardstown and Liffey Valley.
