A popular restaurant has announced its closure in Swansea, saying that "business is no longer sustainable". The Smoke Haus, which has restaurants both in Cardiff and Swansea, said that Sunday, June 18 would be their last day of trading in their Swansea branch.
In a statement shared on their social media page on Sunday, the business explained that rising costs as well as the "slow decline" of Swansea city centre were some of the main reasons behind their decision. The Smoke Haus, which offers American smokehouse BBQ cuisine, began their business in Swansea and had been trading on Wind Street for over a decade.
The business confirmed that their Cardiff branch would continue trading. They also thanked customers for all their support throughout the years.

In a statement, The Smoke Haus wrote: "It is with a huge amount of sadness, that we have had to decide that Fathers Day will be our last day of trading in Swansea. The ridiculous cost of utilities, absurd car park charges, cost of living and the slow decline in Swansea's city centre has meant that business is no longer sustainable.
"We have had the most incredible 10 years in Swansea and we cannot thank those of you enough who have supported us, you have been truly incredible. As Swansea is where this all started for us, it really has been an awful decision to make.
"We will be continuing to trade in Cardiff so if you're ever there please look us up, we'd love to see you all again. Again thank you so much to each and every one of you - 'We Salute You'. Much love - Jayne, Mark and Owen".
The business is not the only one to stop trading during the cost of living crisis. Last month two of Cardiff's top restaurants announced their closure on the same day, citing spiralling costs.
