Popular pasta joint Sugo is opening its third site in Greater Manchester

One of Manchester's most celebrated local restaurants is expanding once again and preparing to open its third site.

Sugo pasta kitchen, which started life in Altrincham in 2015 before branching out to Ancoats, will be launching a new restaurant in Sale town centre.

The brothers behind the business are set to take over a unit in Stanley Square, with plans to open this autumn.

They'll be taking over part of the unit that's currently occupied by General Stores with their Groceries and Beer concept.

That team are moving a few doors down to open a new Foodhall and shop.

Sugo co-owner Michael De Martiis said they're excited to be part of the regeneration of the area, which he thinks is on the verge of a 'mini food and drink revolution'.

He said: "We like the idea that it's something new and exciting, and we're keen to come in at its inception and be part of something that's being built for the future.

"It's the same way that we felt about Altrincham in 2014 and Ancoats in 2017.

"But beyond that, we've also been inundated with residents who live in Sale who would love to visit Sugo but can't get into Altrincham because it's so small.

"The Sale restaurant is bigger than Altrincham but a bit smaller than Ancoats, it's the perfect site for us.

"In terms of the venue and the experience and the size we think it will be our best Sugo pasta kitchen yet.

"We've taken a lot of time and commitment to build a great team - and you're only as good as your team.

"So now we're feeling confident and calm and just excited!"

Sugo was named best casual restaurant at the Manchester Food and Drink Awards in 2019, and has received glowing reviews across the board including in the M.E.N.

Their Stanley Square restaurant is set to open this November.
