Popular Nottinghamshire New Year event cancelled due to covid

A popular annual event in Nottinghamshire has been cancelled for the second year running due to covid.

The New Year's Duck Race, which was set to take place at Manor Farm Recreation Ground in Toton on Saturday, January 1, was called off by organisers.

The event involves the release of hundreds of rubber ducks into the River Erewash, with those who finishing in the top positions winning a host of prizes.

In an announcement yesterday (Tuesday, December 28) organisers said there would be no physical race due to "covid safety concerns".

However they added that there would be an online raffle instead.

"The Ducks and Age UK Derby & Derbyshire still need your support," they stated.

The 2021 event was cancelled due to covid restrictions.
