Popular Nottingham cash and carry confirms closure after 70 years of trading

A popular Nottingham cash and carry is set to close its doors for good after more than 70 years of trading.

Collins Cash and Carry, located off Aspley Lane in Bobbers Mill, is set to permanently shut after decades serving customers across Nottinghamshire.

The family-run business is now launching its closing down sale, with £3 million worth of stock being sold before the closure.

The store announced on its Facebook page: "It is with a heavy heart we announce that after 70 plus years of trading the legendary Collins Cash And Carry will be closing its doors.

"It's not all doom and gloom though with our closing down sale.

"Over £3 million worth of stock has to go, and all stock must go now. So be quick."

A member of staff at Collins was unable to comment further on the closure amid busy scenes in the store as the sale begins.

The shop, which was established in 1950, and sells everything from household goods, to clothing and DIY items.

More than 60 staff are employed at the store, which offers more than 25,000 different lines for customers to choose from.

It remains open for the timebeing from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm on Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday.

The sale is in-store only and is not available online - social distancing measures remain in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
